Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin said he will move a motion to sanction Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng if the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) found that money meant for GST refund were not “robbed”.

Referring to press reports on the likely conclusion made by the PAC, Khairy said the “robbery” claim was uttered by Lim when the duo were debating the bill to abolish the Goods and Services Act 2014 last August.

Khairy said that this fact, along with the fact that it was he who lodged a police report on the “robbery” claim, means it was only appropriate that he file the motion to propose that the Dewan Rakyat take action against Lim for misleading the house.

Earlier today, Malaysiakini, citing sources, had reported that the PAC had found that previous administration did not “rob” the RM19.4 billion meant for GST refunds, but used it for government expenditure instead.

The sources told Malaysiakini that the PAC report had used the term “tiada kehilangan” (did not go missing) for the GST funds, and states that the funds were used for expenditure purposes.

The PAC report will be tabled at the Dewan Rakyat next Tuesday.

Although Khairy had hoped to take action against Lim if the PAC report disputed the “robbery” remark, former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak said it was pointless to do so.

“It is a certainty that Lim will get away with it, without any sanctions by the 'PH parliament' after he had lied and misled the Dewan Rakyat.

“Guarantee!” wrote Najib on his Facebook page.
