INQUEST | The Coroner's Court in Shah Alam today concluded the inquest into the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, which has lasted for five months.
Coroner Rofiah Mohamad also ruled that there is no need for her to call for another witness.
She fixed Aug 21 for the interested parties to make their respective submissions.
"I am satisfied with the evidence and I close the inquest proceedings. We have enough evidence to deliver a verdict," she said.
The inquest into the death of Adib started on Feb 11. A total of 30 witnesses were called in the 41-day hearing.
Adib died at the National Heart Institute on Dec 17, 2018, after succumbing to injuries sustained during riots near the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya about a month earlier.
The inquest was ordered after two conflicting versions of the cause of his death emerged.
One version claimed he was hit by a vehicle, while the other said he was beaten by a mob.
Adib’s family was represented by a panel of lawyers comprising Mohd Kamaruzaman Wahab, Ahmad Taufiq Baharum, Ahmad Lutfi Awang, Mohd Zubir Embong and Mohd Tajuddin Abdul Razak.
The Housing and Local Government Ministry was represented by senior federal counsel Suzana Atan, who is the deputy head of the Civil Division in the Attorney-General's Chambers.
