Sarawak allocates RM30m to Unit for Other Religions

The Sarawak government underlined its commitment to taking care of the needs and development of other religions with an allocation of RM30 million for the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) this year.

This is to enable the non-Muslim community to upgrade their houses of worship or carry out other religious-related activities, as well as strengthen the unity among the races and religions in Sarawak, said Chief Minister Abang Johari Abang Openg.

He said, as a Muslim, he holds strongly to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad to be fair to all religions.

“Leaders must be fair to both Muslims and non-Muslims.

"The society can live more peacefully and harmoniously by practising their own religious beliefs,” he said at the presentation of contributions for Unifor in Kuching today.

Unifor was established in 2017, where it received funds of RM15 million that year, and RM20 million in 2018.
