Some 2646 schools nationwide are to be closed tomorrow as a result of the haze situation, the Education Ministry announced in a statement this evening.

The ministry stated that some 1,715,274 students are so far affected by these closures.

The breakdown of the schools being closed tomorrow are 987 in Sarawak, 939 in Selangor, 25 in Putrajaya, 296 in Kuala Lumpur and 399 in Penang.

The Education Ministry also said schools in Negri Sembilan and Perak would operate as per normal in accordance with the policy of their areas registering API readings of less than 200.

The ministry reminded parents, teachers and students that the situation could be subject to change if conditions do.
