Travel agency demands RM329k from Azmin for unpaid trips
A travel agency has filed a suit against Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali for the recovery of RM328,901 for unpaid flight tickets and hotel stays.
In its statement of claim sighted by Malaysiakini, YHA Travel & Tours (M) Sdn Bhd said Azmin owed the amount for travels between September 2018 and August 2019.

In its statement of claim sighted by Malaysiakini, YHA Travel & Tours (M) Sdn Bhd said Azmin owed the amount for travels between September 2018 and August 2019.
According to a breakdown of the claim, the firm had booked flight tickets and hotel stays for Azmin, his family, friends and ministry staff.
The firm said it had to advance payments to airlines first to secure the tickets and would be paid by Azmin or his representative every three to four months.
"Further, the defendant and/or his authorised representative will also make payments before the immediate umrah and/or haj pilgrimage, or before the immediate Hari Raya period.
"However, in this instance, the payments have been outstanding for far longer than the aforesaid time frame," said the firm.
The firm said it had been making travel arrangements for Azmin for 20 years, during which both parties never had a dispute.
In August and September, the firm issued two letters of demand to Azmin for the amount, but there was no payment forthcoming and hence the plaintiff said it suffered loss and damages.
YHA Travel & Tours' writ was filed by Messrs Fong Yap & Gan.
Among others, their statement of claim said the plaintiff had prepared flight tickets for Azmin's family year-end holiday in Morocco and his overnight trip in May to Sandakan, Sabah.
