Pakatan Harapan has urged the media and the public to safeguard their freedom to express themselves but not reporting fake news.
In a statement today, the coalition condemned the spreading of rumours and press reports claiming that DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng's son was arrested in Singapore with RM2 million in cash.

In a statement today, the coalition condemned the spreading of rumours and press reports claiming that DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng's son was arrested in Singapore with RM2 million in cash.
"We urge the media not to forsake the freedom that they now have for political purposes.
"Report the news responsibly based on facts and not slander by those who are now being fed by kleptocrats," said the coalition in a statement today.
The coalition also urged the public not to spread rumours and urged the authorities to act against rumours mongers.
"The authorities are urged to stop the spread of slander and fake news which is running rampant since the change of government.
"We are concerned that the freedom of the media that was realised in May 2018 may be abused by those with political interest to cause friction among ethnic groups," said the coalition.
Allegations concerning Lim's son surfaced yesterday but it was nipped in the bud by Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador who said it was not true.
Lim has since threatened to sue Umno Youth exco member Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris for his alleged role in circulating the rumour.
