Amanah's Serom assemblyperson Faizul Amri Adnan stressed that he resigned from his Johor party posts only due to internal issues.
He said some “irresponsible parties” tried to portray his resignation as something else.
“I would like to stress that I am still an Amanah member with all the principles of our struggle for the welfare of the rakyat in my heart and soul.
“I would also like to stress that the decision to resign from my party posts is to give a strong signal to the party’s highest leadership to resolve all internal party conflict at all levels to prepare for a stronger Amanah,” Faizul (above) said in a statement today.
He also said he remains supportive of the people’s mandate which was given to Pakatan Harapan to lead the state of Johor as well as Malaysia.
“I will never become a traitor to this mandate as some politicians in Malaysia have been today."
It was reported yesterday that Faizul had resigned as Johor Amanah’s party committee member and education committee chairperson.
He had also said he will not contest the 15th general election for the party.
In his resignation letter, Faizul had cited a loss of confidence in the state party leadership.
When contacted, he had said he was still an Amanah member but declined to go into detail on why he resigned.
