Dr M recalls Anwar's 'I have the numbers' claim in 2008
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad does not appear convinced at PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's claim that he has secured a majority in the Dewan Rakyat to form a new government.

Dr Mahathir Mohamad does not appear to be convinced that PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has secured a majority in the Dewan Rakyat to form a new government.
Speaking via Zoom at Nutanix's Asean CIO Virtual Summit, the former premier noted that Anwar made a similar declaration in 2008, which did not materialise.
"We will have to wait to see if this is another episode of making claims that cannot be substantiated," he was quoted as saying by The Edge Singapore.
Mahathir was asked about the development moments after Anwar made the claim at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
Anwar claimed he had obtain a "strong and formidable" majority but declined to reveal the number of MPs on his side.
The Port Dickson MP said it was only appropriate that he presented the numbers to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong first.
"Conclusively, we have a strong, formidable majority. I'm not talking four, five or six.
"I'm talking about much more than that," he said.
Anwar also said that his majority did not include Mahathir or his party, Pejuang.
Perikatan Nasional leaders accused Anwar of bluffing but Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed that "many" of his party and BN MPs have defected to Anwar's side.
Amanah has pledged its full support for Anwar whereas DAP said it would support the PKR leader if he could form the new government.
