COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 972 new Covid-19 cases and eight deaths during the 24-hour period ending noon today.
Sabah's share of new cases amounted to 38 percent, followed by Negeri Sembilan (26 percent) and Klang Valley regions (17 percent).
Leading indicators in brief:
- Active cases = 11,308 ↓ (358 less than the previous day)
- Patients in intensive care = 86 ↓ (8 less than the previous day)
- Intubated patients = 31 ↓ (1 less than the previous day)
- Deaths = 8
Seven of the eight deaths were reported in Sabah. The cumulative Covid-19 casualties in the Borneo state currently stood at 156, or 53 percent of the national death toll (294).
Of those seven deaths, five victims were Malaysians. There was one death recorded in Labuan, also a Malaysian.
One of the victims in Sabah was a one-year-old infant with several comorbidities.
There were five new import cases detected, meaning that 967 cases involved local transmission.

According to Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the Health Ministry today classified six new clusters.
The largest of them is known as Perigi, involving the district of Klang in Selangor. The index case was screened for Covid-19 at work on Oct 15. There are 39 infections attributed to this cluster.
The second-largest new cluster has been named Nahaba. It involved the Kota Belud district in Sabah. The index case reported symptoms on Nov 4. So far, 25 cases have been attributed to this cluster.
The Terapi cluster includes the Kepong district in Kuala Lumpur and Alor Gajah district in Malacca. The index case reported symptoms on Nov 3 and 12 infections have been found in this cluster.
In the Kota Tinggi district of Johor, a person reported symptoms on Nov 5 which led to the existence of the Padang cluster, with five cases.
The Harmoni cluster involved Putrajaya. The index case was detected during screening at the workplace. So far, five cases have been linked to this cluster.
The Numbak cluster in Kota Kinabalu district in Sabah was discovered following the detection of the index case after the patient was warded at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Oct 17. This cluster has eight cases.
