UMNO AGM | Umno Youth has called on PAS to make it clear whether they will support Umno or Bersatu in the next general election.

This is after Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said his party was ready to take on Umno in the polls.

"We have defended and strengthened Muafakat Nasional (between Umno and PAS) to this day but we need to ask our friends PAS, what is their view on Muhyiddin saying we want to contest all Umno seats?

"Are they with us or otherwise? This is important before we go to war, we must know who is our foe, who is our friend," said Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki in his closing speech at the wing's 2020 annual general assembly today.

Muhyiddin had said that Bersatu will take on Umno even if the latter contests all 222 parliamentary seats.

Asyraf's latest stance is harder than the one taken in his opening speech when he said that although Umno was hurt, it acquiesced to PAS' decision to be with both Umno and Bersatu.

PAS has thus far refused to take sides in the Umno and Bersatu spat, insisting that all three parties should be together.

PAS has a pact with Umno through Muafakat Nasional but is also a member of Bersatu's Perikatan Nasional coalition.

Asyraf said Muhyiddin's remarks made it clear that Bersatu wanted to contest all Umno seats - including those the party would not compromise on.

Hence, he said Umno Youth fully supported the motion to sever ties with Bersatu.
