3-day closure for premises flagged by Hide; no Ramadan bazaars in MCO areas

All premises flagged by the Hotspot Identification for Dynamic Engagement (Hide) system will be closed for three days, said Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The government has also decided that all Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars in movement control order (MCO 3.0) areas will be shut down effective Monday.

Speaking about Hide-flagged premises, Ismail Sabri said due to the risk of Covid-19 transmission, those listed by the system will be closed temporarily with immediate effect.

A Defence Ministry aide confirmed with the media that this meant all locations listed under Hide today would have to be closed.

Over 150 premises were flagged by the Hide system today, mostly in the Klang Valley.

They comprise largely popular shopping malls such as Suria KLCC, the 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Mid Valley Megamall, the Bangsar Shopping Centre and The Curve.

Hypermarket chains including Giant and Lotus in various locations, convenient stores such as 99 Speedmart outlets and wet markets were also on the list.

The initial Hide FAQ (frequently asked questions) statement released this morning stated there was no need for premises flagged to shut down but said that pre-emptive action was needed.

Among the preemptive measures that could be taken include sending a casual contact notification via the MySejahtera app; stricter movement control for visitors; preventing entry of high-risk customers/visitors; setting up a work bubble or work-from-home arrangements and mass screening of employees.

The FAQ stated that the listed premises are not actual clusters but potential clusters which could materialise unless pre-emptive measures were taken.
