PAS MUKTAMAR | A special officer to Kedah Menteri Besar Muhamad Sanusi Md Nor has insisted that invitations for Kedah Umno leaders to attend the PAS 68th annual muktamar were hand-delivered to all state excos including one from Umno.

Zulkifli Yahya said he personally handled the invitations for all Kedah state excos.

"I delivered it by hand to Suraya Yaakob (Umno's sole exco) at her office on Tuesday, Aug 30.

"(I said) Dato' please come... but she only smiled, did not answer," he said on Facebook.

A dispute over the invitations came following Kedah Umno chief Jamil Khir Baharom's denial of PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan's statement that all Umno leaders were invited to attend the muktamar held at the Kedah PAS Complex, Kota Sarang Semut.

Earlier yesterday, Takiyuddin, who responded to questions on PAS-Umno ties, said he could "confirm" that organisers had invited the Umno central and state leaders to the muktamar.

Takiyuddin, however, said that none of them had responded to the invitations.

Jamil also expressed hope that his explanation would avoid any future confusion on the matter.
