American media personality Kim Kardashian revealed to US investigators that she once played baccarat with money given by Jho Low and walked away with around US$250,000.
She told Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) personnel that she gambled with Low twice.
On the first occasion, the gambling session was preceded by dinner and clubbing. At the time, she told investigators that Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland were part of Low’s entourage.
At 3am, the group were in a private room in a casino playing baccarat.
“Kardashian did not believe the Asian guys who were with Low spoke English and they would always yell ‘Monkey’ for good luck when playing baccarat.
“Kardashian thought that Aziz and McFarland were also there along with an old Asian man,” read the FBI document.
Riza is the son of Rosmah Mansor, who is the wife of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak - who is currently serving a 12-year jail sentence on money laundering, criminal abuse of trust, and abuse of power in relation to SRC International Sdn Bhd, which itself is a 1MDB subsidiary.
Riza and McFarland were the producers of the Hollywood film ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’.
The FBI documents were a summary of their interview with Kardashian that was submitted by prosecutors who are preparing for a trial against Prakazrel “Pras” Michél, a member of the Grammy-winning musical group Fugees.
Michél was accused of money laundering and lobbying on behalf of Low and the Chinese government.
The FBI documents were disclosed by Bloomberg.
‘The chips were hers to keep’
Kardashian told investigators she wanted to leave the casino at 5am but was advised to stay because of Low’s reputation for handing out gambling chips at the end of the night.
Eventually, Kardashian won around US$350,000 but her security guard advised her to return it since she didn’t gamble with her own money.
“When Kardashian attempted to give the chips back, Low told Kardashian that the chips were hers to keep,” said the FBI.
When Kardashian cashed out the chips, she was given around US$250,000 in one hundred dollar notes in a trash bag.
Eventually, Kardashian sought a letter from Low to prove that the money she received was a gift.
Kardashian would eventually receive the balance of around US$100,000 - also in a trash bag - the second time she went gambling with Low.
During the second gambling session, she told investigators that she overheard Low, Riza, and McFarland talking about getting into film production.
Kardashian told investigators that she invited Low to her wedding with Krish Humphries in 2011.
Low, she said, requested his own table for him, his date, Riza and his date, and a third person whose name was redacted in the FBI documents.
Low initially wanted to gift Kardashian a horse carriage. When Kardashian requested a white Ferrari instead, Low allegedly responded “OK, I’ll just send you the cash.”
Kardashian was not familiar with the entity Goodstar but stated that if the money was coming from that entity, it was from Low.
“Once she was told the money came in, she just thought ‘Let’s get me a car’,” read the FBI documents.

‘Najib and DiCaprio exchanged small talk’
The FBI also interviewed ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ star Leonardo DiCaprio, who recalled his meetings with Riza and McFarland.
“Jho Low initially gained access to Najib through (Riza) Aziz. Low used his connection to Najib to get access to the business world,” read the FBI document.
“DiCarprio twice met Najib. The first time was at the Bel Aire Hotel, which was right around the time Najib met with president Barack Obama.
“The second time, DiCaprio met Najib at a charity event.

“The first time DiCaprio met Najib, Low arranged it and was there. Low wanted DiCarprio to shake Najib’s hand. Najib and DiCaprio exchanged small talk.
“DiCaprio met Najib’s wife Rosmah Mansor... Mansor asked why he cared so much about animals and said he should really care about people.
“DiCarprio told her that they fundamentally disagreed,” read the FBI document.
DiCaprio told investigators that Riza was passionate about making movies.
The actor said he did not recall talking to Riza about how Red Granite - the company that produced ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ - was funded nor did they talk about Riza’s source of wealth.
“(Riza) Aziz said he was the stepson of the Malaysian prime minister. Aziz did not discuss his family's wealth but DiCaprio assumed they were wealthy based on how they dressed,” read the FBI document.
