Penang PAS offers 'Kerja' in Sg Bakap

SG BAKAP BY-ELECTION | With just three days left until campaigning ends, Penang PAS has unveiled a manifesto for Perikatan Nasional candidate Abidin Ismail in the Sungai Bakap state constituency.

State PAS commissioner Muhammad Fauzi Yusoff said the “Kerja” manifesto outlines their candidate’s commitment to serving the community.

During a press conference in Sungai Jawi, Nibong Tebal today, Fauzi said each letter in the acronym represents what Abidin (above) and the party will do for Sungai Bakap voters.

K - “Service to the community (Khidmat kepada masyarakat)”, encompassing initiatives like setting up two service centres and mobile units to aid Sungai Bakap residents.

He said this includes volunteer programmes aimed at assisting the underprivileged.

“Emergency assistance services include strengthening disaster relief efforts to ensure prompt aid distribution,” he stated.

E - “Economy and job opportunities (Ekonomi dan peluang pekerjaan)”, focusing on entrepreneurship training, financial aid, and tourism promotion initiatives.

R - “Infrastructure network (Rangkaian infrastruktur)”, which addresses issues like water supply, road maintenance, and public facilities such as markets, recreational parks, and community halls to enhance resident welfare.

Fauzi also emphasised PAS’ commitment to resolving water supply and infrastructure challenges while overseeing ongoing government projects.

J - “Ensuring people’s priorities (Jaminan mengutamakan rakyat)”, pledging to advocate for Sungai Bakap residents in the state legislative assembly.

A - “Trust and integrity (Amanah dan integriti)”, involving rigorous project oversight, ethical management practices, and transparent reporting to the community.

Abidin, who was also present, remarked on the manifesto’s continuity with the late Sungai Bakap assemblyperson Nor Zamri Latiff’s initiatives.

“Our manifesto is already in motion, and we aim to strengthen it further to address any shortcomings, InsyaAllah,” Abidin said.

The Sungai Bakap by-election on July 6 is a straight fight between Abidin and Harapan candidate Joohari Ariffin following the passing of incumbent Zamri on May 24.
