Kedah MB's mother dies

Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s mother, Meriam Ahmad, died today while receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar.

She was 74.

Sanusi’s press secretary Muhamad Mat Yakim confirmed Meriam’s passing.

“Al-Fatihah. Meriam, the mother of the Kedah menteri besar, breathed her last at 9.40am today at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital,” he told reporters through WhatsApp.

He said the funeral is expected to be held later today in Sik.

Meriam was reported to have been admitted to the ICU on Monday after having a heart attack at home.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man also shared the news on Facebook.

“I would like to convey my condolences to Sanusi on the passing of his beloved mother.

“I also pray that he would remain patient and resilient in facing this loss and for Meriam to be forgiven for all her sins, and for her soul to be blessed and placed among the righteous. Amin Ya Rabbal A’lamin,” he posted.
