Tuan Ibrahim: Be cool Anwar, remember your 'undur' protests?

PAS number two Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has advised Anwar Ibrahim not to become “frantic” when faced with calls to step down.

He also reminded the Pakatan Harapan chairperson about the times he participated in street protests calling for his predecessors to “undur” (withdraw).

“It is normal for leaders to come under pressure… He needs to be ‘cool’... You are the PM, not (the head) of JKK (village development and security committee).

“When you are prime minister, he needs to be cool. Pressure and demands to resign are normal,” he added.

Tuan Ibrahim (above, left) was commenting on Anwar challenging the opposition to file a motion of no confidence against him during the next Parliament sitting.

Following this, PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari issued a counter dare, asking the prime minister to “free” all government MPs first from all that binds them to the government before talking about a no-confidence vote.

Reflection of fear

Tuan Ibrahim claimed that Anwar’s challenge does not reflect courage but rather the latter’s fear.

“It shows his trepidation, concern and fear, to the point of challenging (the opposition to initiate) a vote of no confidence,” he was quoted as saying by Harakah.

The PAS leader suspected something was amiss when Anwar, despite commanding a large majority in the lower house, appeared “frightened” over the calls for his resignation.

“Why is he afraid? Seems like there is something there. I feel that it is because he has to rely on other parties for the numbers. That is the reason.

“If you become prime minister and your party is the strongest, we feel different,” he said in reference to PKR, which has 31 parliamentary seats.
