A road construction worker is disappointed that action has yet to be taken against his alleged assailants, including a Pahang royalty, who stabbed and shot at him on June 6 in Kuantan.

“There has been no action until now, the police are quiet.

“I am still waiting for developments since the issue went viral. I feel disappointed… I hope there will be justice for me,” Alias Awang told Malaysiakini.

The incident, which was first highlighted by Malaysiakini on Sept 5, also caught the attention of Pahang Crown Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, who urged the police to act without fear or favour.

Citing the crown prince’s statement, Alias (above) is hoping that the matter will not be swept under the carpet.

“I am disappointed (that there has been no action) because this also involves the crown prince calling for stern action to be taken.

“I hope what happened to me is not silenced,” added the 44-year-old father of eight.

Probe pending DPP’s instruction

On Sept 20, Pahang police chief Yahaya Othman said the investigation paper had been referred to the deputy public prosecutor.

Previously, he said the DPP had returned the investigation paper for the police to obtain more details.

The case was investigated under Sections 324 and 128 of the Penal Code, which are related to causing harm using weapons and rioting.

Police had also revealed that three men, including an individual believed to be the main suspect, were arrested and remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations before being released on police bail.

He said two others were also arrested but released after their statements were recorded.

Alias, who lodged a police report on June 8, claimed that the alleged assault occurred at a horse stable, where he was set upon by a group of men.

“Some 20 people, including the son of the Tengku (a royal title), attacked me.

“One of them stabbed me with a knife in the right thigh. The Tengku’s son shot at my leg but missed,” he claimed.

Alias also claimed to have learnt that the attack was related to a plot of land in Rompin where he was involved in the construction of a road.
