A crowd of around 200 gathered in front of Masjid Jamek in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur in a rally against DAP cabinet members Nga Kor Ming and Hannah Yeoh.

Port Dickson Bersatu division chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin, popularly known as Chegubard, led the crowd in chants on a truck outside the mosque.

The rally began after Friday prayers and streams of men exiting the mosque joined the rally in curiosity.

After a few speeches from PAS and Bersatu's youth wing leaders, around 80 protesters walked to the Dang Wangi police station to lodge a report against Yeoh.

PAS Youth deputy chief Mohd Hafez Sabri, who lodged the report along with Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid, explained that reports have already been made against Nga previously.

Additionally, the police have agreed to open investigation papers against the two DAP leaders, he said.

"We have successfully united the people and the voices of Muslims in our country so that action can be taken against the two individuals I named earlier.

"We hope the Royal Malaysia Police will conduct their investigation as fairly as possible and bring the two of them to justice, God willing," he said.

Christmas carol and Yeoh’s book

PAS recently targeted Nga and Yeoh over remarks that the party claimed posed a threat to Islam, with one party leader taking issue with a Christmas carol performance at the Housing and Local Government Ministry in Putrajaya.

A Dec 24 video on Nga’s Facebook account showed ministry staff singing the song “Jingle Bells” - a song about the joy of riding a sleigh in the snow - and the song “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

Nga defended the event as a reflection of mutual respect and harmony among ministry staff while advising PAS leaders to repent and stop sharing slander, or disrupting the harmony of a multiracial society.

At the same time, Yeoh was criticised for the translated excerpts from her autobiography, in which she speaks about how her Christian faith became an issue again on social media.

Critics had zoomed in on her remarks that she was acting as an “ambassador of God” as proof that she was evangelising.

Previously, the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed Yeoh’s defamation suit against former inspector-general of police Musa Hassan for alleging that she was trying to turn Malaysia into a Christian nation, among others.

National security

On that note, Chegubard and Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz pointed to the court decision as proof of Yeoh's evangelising.

"After the court decided that Yeoh was involved in the matters said by Musa, including when evangelising involves foreign Jewish movements, what we have said is not only an imagined issue but one of national security.

"This is a big issue. Unfortunately, there are Malays in DAP who were used," Tun Faisal claimed.

Tun Faisal clarified that the rally was not against any particular race or religion, but specifically against evangelising Malays, who are constitutionally Muslim.
