Businessperson Albert Tei has lodged a police report against Bukit Aman CID director M Kumar, after the latter said Tei had lodged a police report alleging that former MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki had threatened him through his lawyer.
“I have never made that allegation in my police report or in the statement recorded by the investigating officer under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code. I urge the police to show proof that I’ve made such an allegation immediately,” he said, citing news reports on May 26 that quoted Kumar.

Bukit Aman CID director M Kumar Kumar had reportedly said that police have questioned both Tei and a lawyer who allegedly conveyed Azam’s threat, following Tei’s police report on May 13, and expects to record a statement from Azam as well.
Azam had dismissed the allegation as baseless and threatened to sue Tei.

Economy
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has hinted at a greater focus on austerity measures in the coming Budget 2027 proposal, due to mounting global economic pressures affecting Malaysia’s fiscal position.
This, he said, has necessitated more prudent spending.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim “The impact of those attacks (by the US and Israel against Iran) has also affected our economy, so do not take lightly or dismiss the new decisions that I make.
“And yes, ministries, including the Education Ministry and the Higher Education Ministry, have appealed (against the cuts), but there must be reductions within departments because it is impossible that savings cannot be found from RM20 billion,” Bernama quoted him as saying.
