• PAS central committee member Shahidan Kassim said that the party remains in Perikatan Nasional after it decided to end ties with Bersatu, as reported by Free Malaysia Today.

  However, the bigger question is how PAS plans to boot Bersatu out of the coalition.

• PN information chief Annuar Musa, in a Facebook post last night, implied that Bersatu was an obstacle to a bigger vision of Malay unity.

  

  “Any obstacles that prevent unity must be reshuffled with courage and firmness,” he said.

  He is believed to be referring to plans for PAS to ally with Bersatu’s splinter faction led by ex-deputy president Hamzah Zainudin.

  PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, meanwhile, repeated accusations that Bersatu had obstructed the entry of Berjasa, Pejuang, Iman, and Putra into PN - a charge Bersatu has denied.

• Following PAS’ decision to sever ties, Bersatu supreme council member Dr Afif Bahardin has called for party president Muhyiddin Yassin to be restored as PN chief.

  “In moments such as this, PN doesn’t need rhetoric that fires up emotions. PN needs a leader who can unite, calm the situation, and rebuild the coalition’s strength based on principles and goals that are bigger than the interests of any party,” he said in a statement late last night.

  

  Previously, Gerakan president Dominic Lau - a staunch Muhyiddin ally - had begun to warm up to new PN chief Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and heaped praise on the latter, suggesting a realignment within PN away from Bersatu is possible.
