'No wrestling': PN concludes negotiations on overlapping claims in Johor polls

Perikatan Nasional has concluded its negotiations to resolve overlapping seat claims in the Johor state election, with Bersatu contesting the majority of them.

All original PN component parties - PAS, Bersatu, Gerakan, and MIPP - have been allocated seats to contest, in addition to their new ally Pejuang, despite not being involved in the negotiations.

Pejuang will contest in Gambir, held by BN lawmaker Sahrihan Jani.

“My task was to negotiate the overlapping seats. Those that do not overlap are free for all (to contest). The overlapping ones have been resolved. Tomorrow night is the announcement of candidates at the operations room in Muar.

“I have settled 34 seats, while those that do not overlap are up to the respective parties. There is no wrestling. PN will lead, contesting under the PN name and logo,” said the coalition’s election director, Sanusi Nor.

Further details have not been announced so far. Overlapping claims occurred in 34 out of 56 state assembly seats.

Happy Bersatu

The negotiations took place at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

Bersatu was represented by its acting deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

The former youth and sports minister said his party was happy with the negotiations.

“We are happy, we are working together.

“InsyaAllah, we will work towards succeeding together; we will announce the candidates tomorrow,” he added.
