The right to wear shorts - at least for non-Muslims - may become a matter of constitutional freedom.
This is after the Kota Bharu Municipal Council fined a shop owner for wearing short shorts while on her own premises.
The local council has a by-law that allows it to act as fashion police to businesses by requiring Muslims to cover up their aurat, and for non-Muslims to dress “decently”.
The fine, however, has been criticised by some as “PAS conservatism” encroaching on the rights and liberties of non-Muslims.

Muda splits from Harapan
After a prolonged wait to hear back on their application to join Pakatan Harapan - Muda has decided to contest the upcoming six state elections on its own.
Muda has been increasingly critical of the government, and has gotten into spats with PKR.
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has called on voters to teach Harapan a lesson at the ballot box while criticising the alleged abuse of power by Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
However, as Malaysia still uses the first-past-the-post (FPTP) electoral system, Muda’s decision may put the party’s supporters who also don’t like PN in a difficult position.
This is as in a multi-cornered fight under FPTP, whoever gets the most votes win - even if they get less than 50 percent of the vote.
Thus, if 60 percent of voters are split evenly between Muda and Harapan, PN may end up clinching a win instead.

One PAS win invalidated
The Election Court has nullified PAS’ win in Kuala Terengganu.
This is after the court found there were elements of bribery in the distribution of financial aid from the state government, prior to GE15.
The seat’s incumbent MP, Ahmad Amzad Hashim, will be appealing against the court’s decision.
If his appeal is rejected or defeated, then the seat will be up for a by-election.
Meanwhile, the court also upheld PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s win in Marang, and rejected an election petition filed by BN.
