Court rules contagious people can still vote
The Court of Appeal ruled that quarantine orders during pandemics should not prevent anyone from exercising their constitutional right to vote.
This is in response to a legal challenge by a voter, who was turned away at a polling centre during the 2022 Johor state election because he was Covid-19 positive.
However, the court ruled that the Election Commission had acted in good faith when it turned the voter away.
