The pressure is on for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Politicians from both sides of the divide and civil society groups are pushing him to rescind an invitation to US President Donald Trump to attend the Asean Summit that will be held later this month.
This is after the US-backed Israeli military intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla - which aimed to deliver aid to Gaza - and abducted all those on board, including 23 Malaysians.
The Malaysians have been freed, but the incident has turbocharged anti-Israel and anti-US sentiments.
Anwar and his government have defended Trump’s upcoming visit, saying it is a chance to exercise diplomacy and even state Malaysia’s stance on Palestine to the US president.

GRS fractures amid scandal
Sabah’s ruling coalition Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has splintered in the lead up to the state election.
Sabah Star and SAPP exited the coalition after insisting on contesting using their own party logos in the upcoming polls
Sabah Star chief Jeffrey Kitingan said his party is also against GRS’ continued cooperation with peninsula-based Pakatan Harapan.
The party has six seats and could be a major thorn in GRS’ side if they decide to clash in the polls.
The schism comes as Kitingan comes under intense scrutiny over alleged corruption.
