Amid a political scandal that has claimed former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, his daughter, Najwa Mahiaddin has released a song urging Malaysians to keep their heads up.

Muhyiddin ( photo ) was removed from the cabinet for questioning Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's handling of 1MDB and the deposits of RM2.6 billion into his private bank accounts.

“I believe in the power of music and its ability to heal. May this song provide comfort and strength to us all in these trying times," said Najwa in a Facebook posting.

The lyrics sung by Najwa to a piano accompaniment, briefly read: "We may all fall down, but we all get up, hold your head up Malaysia, after the rain comes the sun".

The song is entitled 'After The Rain'.

Immediately after the song's release, Najwa began receiving messages of support on Twitter .

Responding to this, Najwa wrote: "Reading your heartfelt comments on 'After The Rain'. Malaysia, we're gonna be okay."

The country is presently facing a crackdown on dissent with Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigators looking at the RM2.6 billion claim being arrested.

Newspapers that have reported critically about 1MDB have also been suspended .
