IGP panned for dismissing MO1

PAS' Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar questioned inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar for dismissing as mere political statement a minister's declaration that "Malaysian Official 1" (MO1) is the prime minister.

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang accused Khalid of double standards, but he was criticised for saying so by Rural and Regional Development Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Ismail Sabri claimed Lim was "confused" and could not differentiate between a criminal case and the civil case initiated by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), which made reference to MO1.

BN leaders continued their attacks against Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) pro tem president Muhyiddin Yassin after he claimed the opposition can wrest 45 of BN's seats if there was a small swing in voter support.

MCA president Liow Tiong Lai dismissed the statement as a mere distraction.

Meanwhile, Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar said if Muhyiddin could make such a claim, then he could easily say BN too could capture two-thirds majority.

Umno supreme council member Shabery Cheek claimed the opposition is forced to accept Muhyiddin as it suffered from a dearth of leaders.
