Query over PKR leader's wealth

Ampang Umno chief Ismail Kijo and Sungai Besar Umno chief leader Jamal Md Yunos brought journalists and photographers on a helicopter ride for an aerial view of the bungalow and purported luxury cars of Ampang PKR Youth leader Adam Rosly.

They said reports will be filed with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) to investigate Adam's wealth.

Adam responded that it is not unusual to see rich young men in Malaysia nowadays. "What about it if I'm 28 and rich? Malaysians know that there are many rich young men. Many young people also have the title 'Datuk'," he said.

'Taiwan ex-president' poser

Former Taiwan president Ma Ying-jeou is currently on a speaking tour in Malaysia, but at least two event organisers are avoiding his official title in promotional materials, referring to Ma as "World Chinese leader" or "former president" without any mention of Taiwan, the state he led from 2008 to mid-2016.

Meanwhile Chinese newspaper Sin Chew Daily, which referred to Ma as "a Taiwan leader" instead of "former Taiwan president" in an interview with Ma that it published, explained it was being flexible on Ma's title after taking into consideration the overall political scenario of China and Taiwan, as well as its understanding of Malaysia's "One China" policy.

IGP vows action against rallies

Do not be angry with the police when they take action during the Bersih 5 rally and the red-shirts' counter-rally this Saturday, inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said, vowing to go after all who break the law.

Cheras Umno Youth chief Johari Yazid urged authorities to crack down on both the Bersih 'yellow shirts' and Umno-linked 'red-shirts' ahead of their expected Nov 19 face-off, to avoid disruptions to peace.

On its part, Parti Amanah Negara pledged to mobilise 30,000 of its members and supporters to attend Saturday’s Bersih 5 rally in Kuala Lumpur. Its secretary-general Mohd Anuar Tahir said the party has also assembled 55 lawyers, 50 medical officers, 30 reporters and 20 photographers to be on duty on the day.
