Irwan Serigar arrested

Former Treasury secretary-general Irwan Serigar Abdullah was detained overnight by the MACC and is expected to be charged today with several criminal breach of trust cases, pertaining to 1MDB's dealings with Abu Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), among others.

Irwan earned a total of RM6,811,763 from January 2011 to June 2018, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng told the Dewan Rakyat.

Also expected to be charged today is former government spy chief Hasanah Abdul Hamid, who is set to face several criminal breach of trust charges.

Meanwhile, a police source told Malaysiakini that Rosmah Mansor, the wife of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, and her sons Norashman and Riza Aziz, are set to be questioned by the police on Friday. Word is that they will be grilled on the 1MDB scandal.

A court document revealed the exact stake two 1MDB subsidiaries have on superyacht Equanimity.

PKR veep fumes over 'warning letter'

PKR vice-president Dr Xavier Jayakumar called a warning letter, which the party's Complaints, Appeal and Disciplinary Committee reportedly issued to him, an attempt to discredit him, adding that he neither received the letter, nor was notified of it.

This came after the committee issued a statement on the PKR Polls 2018 website, naming Jayakumar, as well as two other MPs - Johor Bahru MP Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir and Hulu Selangor MP June Leow Hsiad Hui - as being issued with warning letters, after complaints of election offences against them were accepted.

Akmal denied the allegation that he coached a voter during the e-voting process for the Johor Bahru division, which he recently won.

Sarawak PKR secretary Nicholas Bawin accused party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail of failing to act on complaints of irregularities in the membership list for the Julau division.

A police report has also been lodged by a PKR member against allegations of irregularities in the Julau PKR membership roll.

The security at Parliament has set up barricades at the lobby following an incident where Education Minister Maszlee Malik almost fell after tripping on a camera cable while being hounded by reporters earlier this week.

Najib said he was willing to take the blame, if helping graduates is an offence, in reply to Harapan's allegation that the drop in PTPTN repayments was the result of the Najib administration extending the grace period for the loan repayment.

A report in UK newspaper The Guardian said the slashing and burning of forests in Raub, Pahang, to make way for durian plantations, was putting the Malayan tigers at risk.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was questioned by the police over his claim that the RM116.7 million seized from properties linked to Najib belonged to Umno.

Inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun welcomed former defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein's offer to track down fugitive financier Jho Low, but declined to speculate on the latter's motive for doing so.

Najib, Irwan and Hasanah are expected to be charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.

The Federal Court will hear on the issue of stateless children.
