DAP lawmakers' millions proof BN didn't discriminate - Najib

The millions in ringgit worth of assets declared by DAP and Pakatan Harapan leaders are "proof" that the previous BN government did not discriminate nor restrict the rights of any parties during its tenure, says Najib Abdul Razak.

The former prime minister added that this contradicted Harapan's claim that the country is in a dire fiscal state.

"For years, the BN government was accused by the DAP of sidelining or discriminating against the non-Malays, that we oppressed the opposition and that the country is also going bankrupt.

"The declarations of the DAP and Harapan leaders' assets clearly prove that the social contract during Merdeka, the Federal Constitution and our democratic system are effective and that the BN government had never restricted, sidelined the rights (of) nor oppressed any party, and that we are not a bankrupted country," Najib said in a Facebook posting last night.

The Pekan MP was referring to the latest declaration of assets of Harapan ministers and lawmakers released by the MACC yesterday.

DAP's Beruas MP Ngeh Khoo Ham topped the list with the highest declared assets of RM75.81 million.

Ngeh, however, later clarified that he had actually declared assets amounting to RM82 million, and not RM75 million, with the amount expected to rise with more assets still being assessed.

Of the RM82 million, he claimed that RM80 million was declared in his name, while the remaining RM2 million in the names of his wife and children.

He further insisted that his wealth was "clean" and explained that "God has been very good" to him.

In second place on the list is Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad with assets declared at RM32.35 million.

Currently, there are 25 ministers and deputy ministers, as well as 13 Harapan lawmakers that have yet to declare their assets.
