MCA AGM | Wee Ka Siong today claimed that the Pakatan Harapan government is standing in the way of the people's pursuit of happiness.
In his policy speech at the MCA annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur today, the new party president said that Harapan is but an election machine that knows little about running the country.
Wee listed the falling ringgit and rubber prices among the factors leading to the people's discontent.
"Pakatan Harapan is now so lost, it should not be a stumbling block to people's pursuit of happiness.
"We have ideas and we have ways, we will lead the people to a brighter future," he said.
Wee also urged Harapan not to hinder MCA's approach, which he claims will help the people.
He also urged party leaders to monitor and assist the Chinese community affected by government policies which neglected them.
"For instance, the new government has shut down the Secretariat for the Advancement of Malaysian Entrepreneurs on the excuse of integrating resources, but allows the Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit and the Secretariat for Empowerment of Indian Entrepreneurs (SEED) to continue their operations.
"In Budget 2019, the new government has also removed the allocation of RM50 million as loans for Chinese SMEs and RM30 million as micro credit for Chinese hawkers and petty traders.
"Is this fair to the Chinese community, who are also taxpayers? " he asked.
