1. Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said controversial preacher Dr Zakir Naik had ventured into "racial politics," which is against the terms of his permanent residency.

2. Some 500 protesters demonstrated against Putrajaya's decision to extend Lynas Malaysia Sdn Bhd's operating licence, with activists mulling a legal challenge.

3. Mahathir defended the decision, stating that experts have found Lynas' operations to be safe, and likened the protest to the objections against the first Penang Bridge which has now gained acceptance.

4. Police will investigate the anti-Lynas rally for allegedly violating the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 despite organisers' denial of wrongdoing.
