Anwar tells aide to meet cops over assault claim

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has asked his political aide Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak to meet the police over the allegation that the latter had assaulted an individual.
"Yes, he should (meet the police), notwithstanding the withdrawal of the police report," he told reporters in Petaling Jaya when quizzed on the matter.
"He must meet the police and he had been advised to (do so)."
At another event in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Anwar said he was told by Farhash that the police report for the assault had been withdrawn.
“I have told him to meet with the police even though he said the police report had been withdrawn, but if the police asked to meet with him, he has to cooperate,” he reiterated.
Police named Farhash as the main suspect in a rioting incident outside the Arena All Stars sports complex in Ampang on the night of Aug 31.
During the incident, a man sustained injuries after being attacked by a group armed with helmets, knives and chairs.
Yesterday, police said Farhash (photo) was untraceable and urged him to come forward to assist investigations, despite his earlier promise to cooperate.
'Harapan aware ECRL to bail out 1MDB'
On another matter, Anwar said Pakatan Harapan was already aware that the aim of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project was to bail out state investment firm 1MDB.
"During the period of negotiation with China, we were already quite aware, but we had no evidence.
"But now, we have the evidence, we need to relook the whole negotiation, terms, et cetera," he said.
Yesterday, Amhari Efendi Nazaruddin, a former aide to Najib Abdul Razak, told the Kuala Lumpur High Court that the ECRL, along with the Trans-Sabah Gas Pipeline and Multi-Product Pipeline projects, were meant to bail out 1MDB.
The ECRL project was put back on track after the signing of a supplementary agreement between Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) and the China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC).
Putrajaya managed to bring down the price tag to RM44 billion – RM21.5 billion less than the original cost of RM65.5 billion.
