YOURSAY | Hadi, what has PAS done to promote unity?

YOURSAY | ‘Your greatest threat and fear is when the rakyat unite...’

Hadi's advice to Umno: Don’t play rough and cause a split

Goliath: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, if you mean that disunity means all Malays have to support Perikatan Nasional (PN), one single coalition, then the answer is wrong. That’s not unity.

Malays are united based on the Islamic religion and raised as Malaysians under our national constitution. It is not when all of them join PAS or PN. Do you know the difference?

PAS is a disgrace for this country and an absolute force of destruction for modern Malaysia. Do not subscribe to such fake and intolerable political ideals.

BusinessFirst: Disunity arises in this case because when all are greedy and want the pie for themselves and their cronies, they will fight tooth and nail for it.

Whoever is in a position to give lucrative contracts, obtain large allocations, etc, will be able to reward himself, family and friends.

There is indeed ‘unity’ shared among Umno, PAS and Bersatu. They are united in greed, exploitation, corruption and lies.

When you are in it for the money and not to service the nation, then of course, you will fight and backstab each other to climb to the top for the rewards.

All this talk about unity is just using religion and race to justify abysmal behaviour. Many right-thinking people, including my Muslim friends, are appalled at the shenanigans of these political leaders.

Dr Raman Letchumanan: Hadi, can you please get this right into your thick head for once? There is only disunity or rather acrimony among the Malay political class, fighting for only your self-interest, fleecing the ordinary rakyat as much as possible.

Please don't load this infighting on to the masses. This is haram, to say the least. Please don't lie when the Malay political class are causing disunity and division among the Malays and worse, causing dissension between Malays and non-Malays.

It is only about grabbing power, position and wealth that is paramount for you all, pawning the interest and welfare of the rakyat. In fact, your greatest threat and fear is when the rakyat unites to some extent, like in GE14.

I hope you all have some conscience left, never mind exhibiting holiness at every turn and corner.

XoXo: If you are so genuinely passionate about the ummah and Malay unity, why don’t you dissolve PAS and join big brother Umno or Bersatu as a start?

In your heart of hearts, you know if there are three leaders and three parties, there can never be ummah unity. A hill cannot have three tigers. Why don't you take the lead and set an example?

Sacrifice yourself and be a follower. Join either Umno or PAS and then preach about ummah unity to them.

FairMalaysian: “Ummah here means all Muslims and non-Muslims who are not extreme,” said Hadi.

Hadi is lying through his teeth. Before he lectures Malaysians, tell him to lecture the Kedah menteri besar. Their brand of race and religious extremism has destroyed this country.

The hoo-hah on the court decision on the use of Allah and Hadi’s comments shows nothing more than his utter disrespect for the rule of the law.

Kawak: Hadi, your insistence for the unity of ummah is just to exploit the present political formula where none of the political parties has dominant control in the Parliament.

You exploit race and religion to bring PAS into the PN government to achieve your political agenda. Your talk of unity of ummah is really a farce.

Don't forget your ‘Amanat Hadi Awang’ that caused tension and hatred among Muslims in PAS and Umno sometime ago. The non-Muslims are also affected by your speeches.

Gerard Lourdesamy: Why so scared, Hadi? Go ahead and contest in GE15 with Bersatu alone. With Allah on your side, I am certain you can defeat Umno and BN, as well as the infidels in Pakatan Harapan.

Umno has always championed Muslim unity since 1955. It was PAS that divided the Muslims, followed by Bersatu.

LoveMalaysia2: This obsession with unity, especially along religious lines, is futile. People have different opinions, regardless of faith.

Umno has proved itself incapable of dealing with its convicted leaders. PAS is too focused on only Islamic issues to the detriment of a united country.

To insist on unity disregards Sabah and Sarawak’s unique people. Politicians in Malaysia are a bunch of self-serving power greedy unprincipled individuals.

ScarletTurtle6152: Hadi, can you, as the president of PAS, just state or list what have you or your party have done for Malaysia other than sowing the seeds of disunity?

How has PAS contributed to the growth of Malaysia's economy, creation of jobs for the majority race, quality education, etc?

In order to contribute to the well-being of the country, one has to have the foresight and of course, “brains”, and truly love the country and its citizens.

FairCritic: Just be good and do no harm to others. You don’t need any religion to teach you that.

But the preaching of PAS and the extremists are different - safeguard one’s own interests by eliminating all others. Ultimately, they will eliminate one another too.

OrangeJaguar9341: Horrified at the thought of losing power, position and perks, politicians are resorting to playing the race and religion card. This is a sad and tired strategy.

It's worth reading Zan Azlee's piece ‘Who is really divided - Malays or Malay political parties?

Oh, for a truly Malaysian Malaysia, am I asking too much?
