Muda hasn't applied to join Harapan yet - Fahmi

Pakatan Harapan has yet to receive an application from Muda to join the coalition, nor was the matter ever discussed in its presidential council meetings.

For the time being, Harapan communications director Fahmi Fadzil (above) said the council is more focused on seat negations in preparation for the 15th general election.

“We have yet to talk about any other party joining Harapan. I only found out about Muda's application to join us through the media,” he said at a press conference today, when asked whether the coalition's presidential council had discussed the matter.

Yesterday, Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said his party had informal talks with Harapan's senior leadership on joining the coalition.

Asked when Muda's application to join Harapan will be discussed, Fahmi did not give a definite date but said the “presidential council will meet more frequently” as GE15 draws near.

As for the seat negotiations, Fahmi said that - in principle - seats contested by coalition partners will remain status quo. Only seats contested by Bersatu during the last election are being negotiated.

Earlier today, Fahmi announced that PKR will embark on a nationwide mega rally, starting with the Gombak constituency this Sunday.

Gombak’s incumbent MP is former PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, who played a key role in the Sheraton Move in 2020 that led to the Harapan government’s collapse.
