Akmal to PAS No 2: Will you ask Perlis, Kedah MBs to go on leave?

Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has slammed a PAS leader who urged Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to go on leave pending an investigation against him.

Taking to Facebook, Akmal asked PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man whether the same call would be made for leaders from the Islamist party who are under probe or facing court charges.

“Before asking Zahid to go on leave, don’t you want to ask the Kedah menteri besar (Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor) and Perlis MB (Mohd Shukri Ramli) to do the same as well?

“Both of them have ongoing cases too. Or would it (calling to go on leave) only work against others, and not toward your own gang?” Akmal (above, left) asked last night.

Sanusi is facing two sedition charges and last May, the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) rejected his bid for representation.

MACC, meanwhile, questioned Shukri for eight hours last April, regarding alleged power abuse involving infrastructure development projects in Perlis since 2022.

The PAS lawmaker’s son Mohd Syafeeq claimed trial in May to a charge of submitting false claims of RM19,505.10.

Akmal was responding to Tuan Ibrahim’s call for Zahid to go on leave after a police report was lodged against the deputy prime minister for allegedly deceiving and misleading the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Zahid, who is also the BN chairperson, has welcomed the probe.

Sinar Harian quoted Tuan Ibrahim expressing concern that the probe against Zahid would not be as “transparent” if he is still on active duty.
