'Not interested' - Nur Jazlan scoffs at PAS' attempt to woo Umno

Johor Umno deputy chief Nur Jazlan Mohamed scoffed at PAS’ plan to rekindle ties with the nationalist party and urged the Islamist party to “move on”.

“Umno is not desperate to work with PAS. We have learnt a bitter lesson during our collaboration under Muafakat Nasional.

“We have fallen into a pit before… don’t tell me we want to fall into it again,” Jazlan (above) said on Facebook yesterday.

On Sept 14, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said his party is continuing its efforts to attract the support of Umno leaders in their efforts to revive MN.

However, he claimed that it only involved some Umno leaders and not those allied with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“But when there is success, there is an effect. The effect is that some Umno leaders are with us, only a few are with them,” the Marang MP said.

‘Leeches hungry for blood’

Unimpressed with Hadi’s claims, Jazlan described PAS as “leeches” always hungry for blood.

“As they are no longer able to squeeze money from Bersatu, PAS is now eyeing Umno, which is part of the coalition government in an attempt to ‘stick on us and suck our blood’,” he said.

The Dewan Negara deputy president also challenged Hadi to reveal the names of Umno leaders who he claimed were interested in reviving MN.

“If it’s true, then Hadi should name them. Don’t tell me a holy man would lie. Oh, I forgot that he did say (in the past) that it’s okay to lie for PAS’ benefit.

“At least, Bersatu was honest enough in its quest to form a backdoor government when they revealed there were 10 BN MPs who signed statutory declarations to back Muhyiddin (Yassin) to become prime minister,” he added.
