I'm still PN deputy sec-gen, Takiyuddin says amid resignation rumours

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan debunked rumours that he has quit as Perikatan Nasional deputy secretary-general.

"Not true... I am still the deputy secretary-general (of PN)," the Kota Bharu MP told Malaysiakini in a brief text message last night.

The rumours surfaced following claims that Takiyuddin (above) might follow in the footsteps of Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, who recently resigned from his position in PN.

On Dec 11, Samsuri, who also serves as PAS vice-president, stepped down as PN’s treasurer-general.

His resignation came just days after PN’s supreme council finalised six key appointments, including secretary-general, women’s chief, information chief, and supreme council members.

Bersatu retained all six major PN positions despite PAS’ request to appoint Takiyuddin as the coalition’s secretary-general.

Samsuri’s sudden resignation surprised Bersatu leaders, including Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal and Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, who were unaware of his reasons.

Terengganu PAS assistant secretary Hanafiah Mat also stated he had no information about Samsuri’s decision, learning about the resignation only through WhatsApp.
