Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has stepped down as Marang PAS division chief, a position that he has held since 2019.

The PAS vice-president reportedly announced his decision during the division’s annual meeting in Rusila, Terengganu, earlier today.

“I am stepping down because I believe the time has come for another person to lead.

“Because this leadership does not belong to any individual, it belongs to the ‘jamaah’ (party),” Samsuri said, as quoted by TRDI.my.

Following Samsuri’s resignation, the Marang PAS division held an election to elect his successor, which saw his deputy Nor Hamzah win uncontested.

According to news reports, Samsuri became the division chief during the party election in 2019 and retained the position in the 2023 party polls, both uncontested.
