Education has a significant effect not only on the student’s life but on the social and economical stability of every country worldwide. Iron-fisted, non-holistic educational methods found in most traditional schools have been thought to increase the number of student “drop-outs”, create a disgruntled, unmotivated work force and a flat-lining economy, which can be observed in many developed countries today. Education must reform to take into account the ever changing future and technological world we live in today. We must educate our children to be global citizens with skills and knowledge to face the many unknown challenges of the 21st century. Fairview International School has chosen to undertake the International Baccalaureate (IB) as a framework of instruction in its effort to educate students to be independent, caring, risk-takers, knowledgeable communicators, balanced members of the global community and exceptional ethical leaders for the future.

Recognising the surmounting cost of education in international schools, Fairview has vowed to provide a premier yet affordable world renowned education open to all. In tune with this philosophy, Fairview has taken an innovative outlook in awarding its student’s who achieve their educational potential. Students are encouraged to recognise the efforts of their parents and the hard-work they endure to afford privileged schooling for their children. To instil appreciation and understanding, Fairview students are given the chance to EARN their education through hard work and principled attitudes, receiving a scholarship if they achieve and maintain a high score in accordance with the IB system. Fairview believes having this incentive can cultivate hard-working, ambitious individuals who understand the value of a well deserved reward. Fairview also is giving all PMR, UPSR and international school students a special scholarship of up to RM1000 to eligible students who have earned an A grade in each of the national examination for English, Maths and Science. Therefore, students can earn up to RM3000 to reduce their school fees and have a chance to continue to earn their education while enrolled in Fairview international School during the month of June and July 2013.

An Open Day will be held across all four campuses in Malaysia for parents and students who want to learn more about Fairview International School and its unique rewards on offer. The open days will be held across Fairview’s campuses in Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Johor Barhu and Penang from 10.00am to 4.00pm , to exhibit this forward thinking and innovative education to interested parents and students. Among the many activities available for potential students, parents will be welcomed to a variety of talks and discussions held by its experienced coordinators and teaching specialists from all three programmes, Primary Years (aged 3-12), Middle Years (aged 11-16) and Diploma Programmes (aged 16-19).

For the first time in Malaysia, a Mandarin Primary Years Programme (Mandarin PYP) will be offered to students entering grades 1 to 4 in Fairview Kuala Lumpur and Subang campuses, starting in August 2013. The only programme of its kind in Malaysia, using Mandarin as the medium of instruction, incorporates the same IB curriculum as the English PYP while integrating the traditions and values of 5000 years of Chinese, language, history and culture. In addition, these children have the opportunity to collaborate with students in the English PYP for non-core subjects, equating to the students language acquisition of 60% in Mandarin and 40% in English. This unique structure enables the Mandarin PYP students to then easily transition into Fairview’s Middle Years Programme (MYP) which is taught in English.
