BN strategic communication director Abdul Rahman Dahlan has declined DAP's invitation to participate in their fund raising dinners.

"I don't want to be a part of a dinner which is part of an elaborate facade to legitimise lots of money going into DAP.

"I don't want to be a part of it," he told reporters at a Hari Raya event in Putrajaya today.

The urban-wellbeing, housing and local government minister said if he attended the opposition party's fund raising dinners, that would "legitimise their fronting".

Earlier today, DAP's Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng ( photo ) invited Abdul Rahman to the party's next fund raising event to be held at the Petaling Jaya Civic Centre on Aug 12.

"We invite him to come to witness and learn for himself (how DAP's funds are raised)," he had said.

Don't be hoodwinked by DAP

Rahman Dahlan also warned against being "hoodwinked" by DAP.

"Actually there is a lot happening behind these dinners. Don't be hoodwinked by DAP. There are many ways for DAP to raise funds," he said.

He had earlier claimed that DAP objected to political funding reform for fear it would put the party in disadvantage.

This was a claim Lim rejected saying that DAP has never refused to declare their political funding.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who is also Umno president, had also said he would disclose all political contributions to his party only if the opposition did the same.

However, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said that they had never been approached to reveal their funding details.

"We never refused because we were never approached on this matter," he had said.
