PKR deputy president Azmin Ali may have insisted that PAS should be in the new opposition coalition but the Islamic party said it would like to know who are the other members first.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said this was because the planned new coalition will not only comprise PAS and PKR.

"In this new Pakatan Rakyat, I do not think that there will only be PKR as there will be other parties that will be joining, he was quoted as saying in Sinar Harian today.

Takiyuddin (photo) said joining the new Pakatan was a big decision for PAS which will require time for discussions.

He added the new coalition could only be possible if its functions were based on consensus.

Asked if PAS will snub the new coalition if it included DAP and PAS splinter Parti Amanah Rakyat, Takiyuddin said no assumptions should not be made over the matter.

For now, he said PAS was on its own and has its own strengths.
