Jamal sparks Bersih-red shirts clash

Bersih kicked off its roadshow in five locations ahead of the Nov 19 rally but was met by anti-Bersih red shirts activists.

The Bersih 5 convoy was attacked by red shirts members on motorcycles in Lumut and they later clashed in Teluk Intan.

The roadshow elsewhere, including Kota Baru, went on peacefully.

DAP's Kampung Tunku assemblyperson Lau Weng San called for the immediate arrest of Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos who was seen in a video provoking the clash in Teluk Intan.

Meanwhile, Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor warned that the tiff between Jamal's group and Bersih may end up in riots if it is not abated.

Penang CM faces red shirts protest

In a related development, Penang Umno organised an anti-Lim Guan Eng and anti-Bersih rally in Penang as thousands in red shirts flooded Gurney Drive.

Police said it will probe the rally for violating the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

Rosmah's aide snubs DAP rep

Damansara Utama assemblyperson Yeo Bee Yin accepted the invitation by Rizal Mansor, aide to the prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor, to visit Permata.

However, she wanted to see the books of Permata, of which Rosmah is the patron.

Rizal snubbed her, stating that the invitation was only to learn about Permata and Yeo should look out for corruption in her own backyard.
