DOJ wants 1MDB updates sealed

The US Department of Justice is seeking to keep updates on 1MDB-related cases behind closed doors.

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang questioned whether Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will sue international media outlets for branding him a “thief” in relation to 1MDB.

The Election Commission denied claims in a report by The Economist that the ruling coalition was trying to steal the coming election, stressing that its redelineation of electoral boundaries was transparent and fair.

In Parliament, DAP’s Nga Kor Ming tore up a copy of the same Economist article in apparent “rage,” and offered his legal services to Najib to file suit.

PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail joined other Pakatan Harapan leaders in lobbying Swiss lawmakers to support the repatriation of 1MDB-linked funds seized in the country.

Zahid ticks off MCA, again

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi ticked off MCA for failing to show up at a BN event in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.

A day earlier, Zahid also told MCA in Bandar Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur, to work harder, claiming that it was Umno that has been doing all the work in the constituency.

Pahang MCA leader David Choi was sacked from the party for extending an apology to a farmer arrested for sharing a video clip deemed insulting to MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak urged BN to step up its game to ensure a bigger victory in the 14th general election.

Dr M complains of 'dirty' polls

Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he believed the opposition coalition could win GE14 if it was clean, but predicted that it would be "terribly dirty".

Mahathir also questioned why Najib feared his fledgling party Bersatu, which is facing the threat of deregistration.

Zahid said the redelineation proposal would only require a simple majority in Parliament to pass.
