The Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) has condemned the senseless shooting at two mosques in New Zealand which killed 49 worshippers.

"CFM denounces all forms of hate crimes and violence. The loss of innocent lives does not build lasting peace in the world," the federation said in a statement today.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and urge churches in Malaysia to pray for those who are grieving their loss," said CFM.

"May we also remember the Malaysians and others injured in the attacks.

"We pray that Almighty God grants them His peace and grace as we offer prayers for their recovery," it added.

One of the four suspects has been charged with the crime in Christchurch yesterday.

The people should always work tirelessly to ensure sincere mutual respect for all religions in the country, it said.

"Hate speeches stirring up animosity have no place here or elsewhere in our world."
