Polls fever: Johor sizzles, N Sembilan next?
Following the dissolution of the Johor state assembly to pave the way for a state election, widely seen as a crucial test of the fragile alliance between Umno and Pakatan Harapan, speculation is now mounting that Negeri Sembilan could also be heading to the polls.
Rumours intensified after vehicles belonging to Harapan state assemblypersons were spotted entering the official residence of Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun in Seremban.
The menteri besar’s press secretary, Ahmad Shahir Shah, later clarified that Aminuddin is scheduled to have an audience with the Negeri Sembilan ruler, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, on Wednesday as part of his regular weekly routine ahead of the state executive council meeting.
The speculation comes amid a royal impasse that has unsettled Negeri Sembilan politics, placing state Umno leaders and Aminuddin at loggerheads.

Abrupt pull of MACC flick unprecedented
A senior industry figure has weighed in on the sudden withdrawal of the MACC-inspired film “Konspirasi”, which was pulled from cinemas just a week after its release, saying he is unaware of any precedent where a film’s producer has requested such a move.
Malaysian Film Producers Association CEO Zahrin Aris noted that early withdrawals in the past have typically been driven by exhibitors on commercial grounds, rather than initiated by producers themselves.
“This is the first time in my memory that a Malaysian film producer requested to pull out a movie before the end of the compulsory two-week screening,” Zahrin said in reference to a government policy that requires participating cinema operators to screen approved local films for a minimum period, giving Malaysian productions guaranteed access to cinemas.
The thriller, which follows an elite MACC unit tasked with retrieving sensitive data linked to corrupt politicians and overseas financial transactions, opened on May 21 before being abruptly pulled from theatres on May 28.

Agong delivers stern Rukun Negara rebuke
Following a reminder from the Selangor Ruler on the Rukun Negara, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has issued a firm admonition of his own.
His Majesty said that any individual who rejects the principles of the Rukun Negara is not worthy of being regarded as a citizen of this country.
He added that the Rukun Negara, introduced on Aug 31, 1970, is a national pledge and commitment by all Malaysians to restore unity and strengthen social harmony among the nation’s diverse communities.
“Therefore, I urge all parties to uphold every principle of the Rukun Negara and to practise it as a guiding framework in daily life as Malaysians.
“Any Malaysian who refuses to adhere to the principles of the Rukun Negara, I advise, the person is not worthy of being called a Malaysian citizen,” said Sultan Ibrahim.
