In a case of former political secretary vs former political secretary, two of ex-Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s aides have contradicted each other over purported freezing of funds by the present administration.

Azman Abidin denied the claim of his predecessor, Faekah Hussin, that new MB Azmin Ali had instructed a freeze on bank accounts used to disburse funds for a state programme in Khalid’s constituencies.

“The allegation that Azmin was acting in a vindictive manner is not true,” he said when contacted.

Azman ( left ), who is also Bandar Tun Razak division PKR chief, said the accounts for Khalid’s Bandar Tun Razak and Port Klang constituencies were not frozen as payback.

Instead, it was done because Khalid is no longer a PKR member, following his sacking for refusing to resign as MB.

He said that the bank accounts for the senior citizens scheme Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE) are held by assemblypersons or coordinators of PKR and Pakatan Rakyat assemblypersons.

As Khalid ( right ) is no longer with PKR, he said, the funds for SMUE at Bandar Tun Razak and Port Klang are now managed by the appointed Pakatan coordinators for the constituencies.

“When you are no longer a party member, you lose those rights. The SMUE accounts have been frozen and are given to the Port Klang coordinator.

“In the case of Bandar Tun Razak, the funds are given to a Selangor Pakatan representative who has ‘adopted’ the constituency under his care.

“So it was not on the instruction of the current menteri besar,” Azman added.

Yesterday, Faekah claimed that Azmin had instructed the state treasurer to freeze the SMUE bank accounts for the two constituencies on Sept 25, 48 hours after Azmin was sworn in as MB.

Faekah, who is now the now Independent representative Khalid’s special officer for the Port Klang constituency, said it was “vindictive politics” played out against Khalid, who she said had served the people, party and Pakatan.

SMUE was introduced by the Khalid's administration in 2008, mainly to provide assistance, such as funeral expenses, to the families of deceased senior citizens, who were born in Selangor.

Those born in Kuala Lumpur before 1974, when the city became a federal territory, are also considered Selangor-born.
