New Agong elected

The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, was elected the 15th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong.

Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page, a platform for Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Ibrahim, said Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar was offered to be Agong but declined to focus on his state.

However, the statement was later retracted, while the Johor sultan's official Facebook page clarified that the monarch declined out of respect for tradition as the Kelantan sultan was next in line based on the agreed rotation system.

US investigators are looking at 1MDB funds going to US entrepreneur Frank White Jr who arranged a White House visit for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's relatives, which included his son and stepson, as well as Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

Meanwhile, the US Department of Justice extended the deadline for Red Granite Pictures and affiliate firms to respond to the civil suit seeking to forfeit assets acquired through funds allegedly misappropriated from 1MDB.
