KINI ROUNDUP | Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

PD voters file suits

A Port Dickson voter has filed a suit to disqualify PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim from the Oct 13 by-election and also sought a declaration to invalid his May 16 royal pardon.

Another voter has filed for a judicial review to invalidate the Danyal Balagopal's resignation as the Port Dickson MP and also sought a declaration to nullify the by-election.

Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, who once accused Anwar of sodomising him, has stated his intention to join the Port Dickson by-election as an independent candidate.

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution anticipated Saiful to hurl some unsavoury allegations against Anwar, vowing that his party will deal with it tactfully.

Kapar MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid believed that former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Isa Samad's decision to take part in the by-election was part of a 20-year conspiracy to stop Anwar from becoming prime minister.

An analyst told Malaysiakini that PAS' strategy to field a military veteran was unlikely to gain traction among the active military personnel which form a large section of voters in Port Dickson.

Condo raid didn't net RM160m

The police have disputed a blogger's claim that they had seized RM160 million worth of cash and valuables – not RM114 million that was announced - from two condominium units in Kuala Lumpur in May that was linked to former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Commercial Crimes Investigations Department (CCID) chief Amar Singh said Najib failed to substantiate that the haul was valued at RM160 million in his complaint to the authorities, which was RM43.3 million more than what was estimated by the police.

When contacted, Najib told Malaysiakini that neither he nor Umno had accused the police of stealing from the haul.

The police's CCID has recorded more than 70 statements in relation to 1MDB, including two from former 1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy.

Some MACC officers have not had a break since May because they are working on the 1MDB probe.
