1. The khat issue continues to haunt DAP with even party veteran leader Lim Kit Siang coming in for some rough treatment at a ‘Hungry Ghost Festival’ event at his Iskandar Puteri constituency in Johor.

According to an organiser of the event, Lim was at the receiving end of heckles and jeers from some in the crowd.

2. Prof S Vijayaletchumi who was due to appear on current affairs show, Analisis Bersama Finaz Yunus, had to withdraw at the last minute after receiving threats from an NGO.

3. Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin questioned the motive of the claim by former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak that he was targeted by an unidentified sniper in Pekan, Pahang, in 2017.

He said it was strange of Najib to raise the matter now and not in 2017 when he was the prime minister.

4. Former prime minister Najib was also warned by Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali to get legal advice before making any online postings to avoid contempt of court issues.

5. National news agency Bernama is a facing a cash flow problem - affecting payments to staff's Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributions and their loan repayments - despite making deductions from their salaries.

In a town hall meeting with about 100 staff at Bernama's Kuala Lumpur headquarters on Thursday, its accounts and finance senior manager Syarifah Zaini Syed Zain said the company was experiencing "financial constraints."

6. The family of Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim said it only wants Attorney-General Tommy Thomas to apologise in relation to the inquest to determine the firefighter's cause of death.

According to lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla, Adib's family has no intention of seeking a court order for Thomas to be imprisoned.

7. A purported plot to oust Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari appears to have hit a snag after the political timebomb over a unilateral religious conversion bill - which threatened to rip apart Pakatan Harapan in the state - was defused.

However, with Amirudin indicating there is a possibility the bill could be tabled again and with the daggers out for him after his remarks on a sex video scandal irked PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's supporters, the menteri besar could still find himself in a precarious position.

8. Indonesia and Malaysia, two of the world’s largest palm oil producers, need to intensify efforts to jointly address discrimination against the product among European Union (EU) countries, said Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
