The Perak DAP treasurer also expressed dissatisfaction with the police, saying he would not be in this situation if investigations were conducted in a professional manner.
“I believe in the police's professionalism to execute their duties. But I am dissatisfied, the police involved in this case did not do their duties in a professional manner.
“If the police had been professional, I would not have been charged in court,” he added.
Earlier, the Tronoh assemblyperson pleaded not guilty to the charge under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
The court allowed the 49-year-old politician bail at RM15,000 with one surety.
Yong said he had extended his fullest cooperation during the course of the investigation and that he did not make comments regarding the matter because the police advised him against doing so.
The exco also referred to Perak state speaker Ngeh Koo Ham's police report yesterday, which claimed that the man who took the domestic worker to lodge a police report received RM100,000 and was threatened by a gun-wielding man not to reveal this.
“The (allegation) that RM100,000 was paid was not included in the police's investigation and the investigation papers were sent back three times by the Attorney-General's Chambers to the police.
“But the police did not call me to provide a statement or input (when the investigation papers were returned). This is a big mistake... even before the investigation is completed, the police have considered me as a criminal and the maid (domestic) worker as a victim. This is unfair.
“Investigations must be thorough. When the AGC passed the investigation papers back three times, the police should have called me to make a statement so that more information can be included,” he said.
Quizzed further on the person he suspects of framing him and if he knew the individual, Yong replied: “ No comment, no comment.”
Perak DAP chairperson Nga Kor Ming, who was also present, said it is only fair for the police to conduct a thorough investigation in light of the new allegation.
